Website authentication error during DAP downloads

A few days ago, I was trying to download videos from Youtube. I tried using Keepvid and Download Accelerator Plus which accelerates the download speed. At first, it was downloading smoothly. But after I put more and more links to download at DAP, the website authentication error popped up, which it asked me to enter the user name and password.

I began to wonder whether Youtube user can lock certain videos or set certain videos to download from his/her account or channel. I tried again by clicking Resume button on Download Accelerator Plus, but the error dialog box still popped up. Next day, it is still the same.

I tried again using ordinary download from my browser and it worked. Then, I tried downloading the same file again by using DAP but starting download from zero, not resuming the previous download. This time, it worked perfectly. Now, I know that putting lots of links on DAP probably will burden the downloader and maybe it will make Youtube to stop you from downloading like that. Now, I know that if error of authentication pops up, we should stop downloading and try downloading again at a later time by using another new link.

Reducing risk of downloading virus infected program

Searching and downloading a program from an unknown site is something quite risky. So, it's better to download from a site like: http://www.download.com if you want to search for a program. On this site, sometimes you can see reviews by visitors or those who have downloaded or used the program. By this way, you can reduce the first risk. It's also my trusted site for downloading freeware.

Then another precaution for downloading is to look at the date when the program added to the database. If the program is about a year old, even without review, it's still safer to download compared to those with newer date added program. This is to ensure that with newer database of our antivirus, the antivirus can detect older viruses. If the file already infected by viruses, then at least your antivirus probably has known it as a virus because it's older than the database. It could possibly be detected rather than those newly created file which has probably been infected by new viruses. This is just a common sense and just a piece of advice from me. Perhaps, you don't think so. And actually I am not saying 0% risk, but I am saying lower risk only.

Always update your antivirus. This is the best precaution. If the updating involves antivirus database and antivirus engine, you should update both. Cause updating both will make the antivirus program run perfectly.

Caution against downloaded files

Here are two things to remember when you want to download a new program or an add-on for your browser.

First, be careful when downloading.
Make sure your antivirus is working and updated. It's really easy to be infected by virus when you have no antivirus installed, if possible use more than one antivirus. I myself use two: avira antivir and avast antivirus (As long as your computer doesn't hang after installing the second antivirus, I think it's still ok). Installing two antivirus running together also means higher protection against viruses because both antivirus probably have different virus database.

Second, be careful after downloading.
Scan your downloaded files after download is also a protection against virus. Or perhaps you want to let your antivirus detect the virus when it appears. This is still ok. If it's possible to clean or the virus, take this action first. Otherwise, move it to quarantine.

After downloading, I ran the setup, but during installation, my antivir pop up and said that it detected a virus. Embed code on your site

Searching and browsing are two common activities for any internet users. If you are a blogger or webmaster, who always search for material that could be used for site, you probably notice a button on some videos or flash animation. The button has a word "embed" or probably like this one. I capture the picture of the button from www.vimeo.com Faststone Image Viewer.

If you click on the button, you will see a new window with html code. This is the code for you to copy and paste in your site if you want the object of the button (probably the video or animation where you click the button), to appear in your site. And that's what we call embed.

Using embed code in our site is better than downloading the video and upload it to our site. Imagine how slow the process is and how troublesome to upload a video that takes up a lot of space. But using embed is like giving a link to the site that provides the video and the video appears on your site (unlike using text hyperlink).

1. Before downloading, make sure to read the review. Don't try to download directly a freeware before reading the review or when it has no review. Consider it before downloading.

3. After downloading, you can scan with your antivirus or anti-spyware.
4. If you are not really sure, wait for about a month, to see whether you can read the review from the editor.
