New Google Search by voice

Google is introducing new way of search very soon. This new way of search is called Google Voice Search. Like "voice command" in offline programs, this Google Voice Search will help you when you are inconvenient in typing.

Take an example when you are about to search for recipe, just coming out from the kitchen, and want to search for something through your voice. In this situation, perhaps your hands are not washed and maybe oily, so that it's not convenient to type.

Another situation of why you need to your Google Voice Search is that there are times when you can pronounce a word, but don't know to how to spell. In this case, Google Voice Search maybe useful.

Search Images at Google by uploading an image

Here's a funny thing about Google Image Search. You probably don't know that you can search for an image by uploading an image. You might wonder and then ask me, since I have the image, why should I search for it anyway?

Well, you may probably do this kind of search when you are in need of other similar photos of your own. Perhaps the same object photo with different background or photos with different object with the same background color. Another reason why you really need to use this kind of search is that you need the image in a bigger resolution / size.

To test the ability of this Google Image Search, you can download the thumbnail image of a Hello Kitty. I even used Screen Hunter to capture the thumbnail image (so that the quality may be lowered) I found through ordinary search. After that, I uploaded the captured image to Google Image Search and tried Search. The result was I could find the same image with different resolution. And through this way, you can get the higher resolution image for your own need.

Another reason why people need to search by uploading images is that they want to know where his/her image can be found through the whole web through Google Image Search engine. The more places the image located means that the image is popular through the web cause many people share it.

Picasa 3.8 new features (Face Movie)

Google Picasa is one of the simplest yet wonderful photo editor. The latest version Picasa 3.8 has some new features like: Face Movie, Batch Upload, Edit in Picnik and Properties Panel.

In Face Movie, you can create slide show of your own photos from childhood till the recent photo with transition. The photos are stacked together slowly, so that it shows you the changes in your appearance from the photos. You'll see memorable moments from this slide show.

Batch Upload enables you manage and organize your photos better. You also make changes to your Picasa Web Album like removing the albums.

Edit in Picnik is another new feature that enriches Picasa. This means you can edit your photo like other Photo Editor. It provides all basic photo editing tools.

And the last one, Properties Panel lets you know the information of your photos, like the photo size with a thumbnail and information like Color Space.

How to find photos that ever uploaded to your blogs

You probably have written lots of posts for your blogs. And you might want to download the photos of one of the post. Surely after a long of posting so many posts with photos, you will certainly find it difficult to retrieve the lost photos. You can't remember on which blog and which post you have uploaded the photo. There's also no such programs for searching your photos on blog. But there's still a way to find it back. How to find it?

Well, if you use Blogger for you blogging activities, you can find the photos easily. Everytime you upload a photo on your blog post, blogger actually stores your photo on Picasa Album. Because of this album, searching for the photo in a blog post has become easier. Although it takes a little, it's still possible to get them. You just need to sign in to your blogger and then click this link and you'll then see that your photo files are already in the album. Take good advantage of your Google Picasa Album.

Blog This! - Google Chrome Extension

I'm going to recommend you an easy way of writing posts for you blog. This post is actually what I'm going to do about writing a post when idea suddenly strikes my mind.

Browsing the internet and reading information on the internet is a very common activity to every blogger. Sometimes, while reading other's blogs/websites, ideas may pop out suddenly from your brain. What do you do after this happens? You'll probably think that you can write the idea directly as a new post for your blog. You might also write it down on a notebook and use it for future use. Or perhaps you want to bookmark it first.

But I think, there's an easier way to do with the idea. Just click the icon "Blog This!" extension on the upper side of your Google Chrome browser, you will then be able to do the writing.

Once you've sign in blogger, you can use Blog This! in your Google Chrome browser to help you write posts easily. How does it works? Try opening a website and then click the Blog This! button. The text content of the website will appear in the new post window. You can edit the text and then publish it.

You can also select the text and click the button. This seems to work as copy and paste text content of a webpage to blogger post window. But of course it gives you more convenience. Click here to read more information about Blog This! extension.

Google Calendar

Google Calendar is one of Google services. From its name, you should be able to guess what it is all about. Yes, it's like an organizer where you can type in your plan on certain dates, that means organizing your activities or plannings including finance.

People used to carry organizers in the form of book with dates and blanks in it. They fill in their activities and plannings in the organizer they write, also like a diary book.

Then when technology had become more advanced, they started to use "digital organizer" in the form like a calculator. This digital organizer usually has the function of a phone book, calculator and planner. Some of them come with a dictionary.

Then since the past few years, people have started to use PDAs (Personal Digital Assistant) which has more functions than that one I mentioned before.

But all of the organizers are things that you need to bring along with you. If you like to make plannings or write diary or plan activities using computer, you can try using certain software (most of them are freeware - you can also find two organizers freeware in my previous posts).

Then if you still want to have organizers that you can use online, every time you go online or anytime you want, you can use "Google Calendar". It's just as simple as those free organizer software. And the advantages of using Google Calendar is that you can access it with the limitation of time and space, but still you need to go online. Thanks for the free organizer, Google!

Translating text or a website

Searching for information through the internet is quite easy nowadays. We have search engines. We don't have to go through reading magazines, or books at the library to look for information. Just use your favorite browsers like Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, or even the latest one, "Google Chrome". These browsers have been empowered by search engines which appeared as toolbars or add ons.

When you found the links of the information you want, just click it and you'll be brought to the sites you want. One of the most common languages used on websites is English. For those whose native languages are not English, will have some problems reading the text on the website. But don't worry, here's the solution.

Technology has improved day by day. And now, we can even read information on any websites even though we don't know languages using translation services. I found the idea of posting this article when I came across a Chinese website which I found that it seemed to be a good site for me, but I couldn't understand very well. Of course, I was curious what the contents was about. After wondering for a while, I suddenly remembered that Google has a service to translate the text from a language to another language (not only English, but many languages).

To use the Google Translation, we need to type: "translate.google.com" in a new tab or a new window of a browser. The next step is to choose whether to translate text or translate website. To translate text, simply type the text we want to translate (or use copy paste). Then choose the source language and the target language. After that, click Translate. Then you'll see the translation right on the side of your original text.

To translate a web page, you can type the url in text box provided (look at the example) and then click Translate. Of course you can also use copy paste the url of the web page. Just that simple. Don't forget to select the source and target language.

Although the whole translation is not as good as manual translation by a senior translator, but at least it gives us a rough understandable translation. If this is used for school or office, perhaps, manual editing of the translation should be made, but if it's just for getting the meaning of the webpage content, this is far too good (for me I think). No more worries of language problem on reading a site. Just use the translation method provided by Google.
